How many calories should you eat each day?

The average Australian adult should consume 2,000 calories per day according to the latest government health advice. One Big Mac is therefore more than a quarter of the average Australian’s recommended daily calorie intake. One Double Big Mac is more than a third of it.

And that’s without any add-ons like fries or dessert. Large fries have 366 calories and a popular dessert like a Hot Fudge Sundae has 542. So you can see how the calories can add up, especially when you add in your other meals and snacks throughout the day!

The recommended daily calorie intake can be influenced by factors such as how active you are and how much muscle you have. For example, if you’re more active, you’ll be able to consume more calories without putting on weight (and vice versa).
